Bungalow Heaven Home Tour

Home Tour Information

Tucked in the deep shade of the California Oaks that line its streets is a little bit of paradise, Bungalow Heaven residents say. On April 28, visitors can experience this pleasant neighborhood for themselves as they stroll through Pasadena’s first Landmark District, touring eight exquisite Arts & Crafts-era homes. The neighborhood was recently added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Bungalow Heaven, in central-northeast Pasadena, California, has one of the largest collections of Craftsman homes anywhere in the United States. Hundreds of Craftsman houses were constructed in the neighborhood from 1905 to 1925. The architecture reflected a movement away from ornate Victorian sensibilities to simpler structures in harmony with nature through the use of materials such as river rock and redwood shingles, and by including front porches and wide windows.  Spanish revival and English-style bungalows also abound.

During the self-guided tour of the historic neighborhood and home interiors, docents will be on hand to offer commentary and answer questions.   Visitors will also be treated to demonstrations of restoration work, music, and refreshments.  A garden tour will be available for an additional charge.  Lunch is also available for purchase.

Bungalow Heaven is located north of the 210 Freeway, between Lake and Hill avenues. It is bordered on the north and south by Washington and Orange Grove boulevards.

For more information on the tour or on ordering tickets, email hometour@bungalowheaven.org  or  call (626) 585-2172. Tickets are $20 per person if ordered in advance. On the day of the tour, tickets, as well as maps and an informational tour brochure, will be available at McDonald Park at the intersection of Mar Vista Avenue and Mountain Street for $25 per person.  Garden tour tickets available at $5 per person.

Ticket forms are available on this website at Order Tickets Now.  Purchased tickets will be mailed after April 1 or held at Will Call.
